Complete Streets Policy

The Town of Canmore includes a Complete Streets policy in its 2016 Municipal Development Plan. The plan commits Canmore to building “Complete Streets and a trail network that prioritizes and encourages walking, cycling, and transit while accommodating the private automobile within a reasonable capacity” (p. 63). It aims to build a network of Complete Streets that accommodates all ages and abilities in a 4-season environment. Implementing a Complete Streets approach in Canmore is one of the five goals of the Development Plan.

Canmore has a website showcasing the various Complete Streets projects that have either been completed or are currently underway in the town. One of these projects is a community engagement strategy to increase walking and cycling to the town’s schools.
