Smiths Falls is a town of approximately 9,000 residents located in Eastern Ontario. The Rideau Canal passes through the town which is host to recreational boating in the area. Smiths Falls is a major railway junction point, with its station receiving regular Via Rail service to Ottawa and Toronto. On January 21, 2019, Smiths Falls’ City council approved the Complete Street Design for Beckwith Street Redevelopment including the removal of angled parking and installation of a cycle track and wider sidewalks. TCAT provided a letter of support to and wrote a blog post about the Council decision.
