On December 18, 2014, TCAT released an online catalogue of Complete Streets projects in the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH). ‘The Complete Streets Catalogue: Understanding Complete Streets in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Region’ features projects from 19 municipalities that reflect the diversity of Complete Streets approaches being implemented by municipalities across the region.
The catalogue uses examples to illustrate how the notion of Complete Streets is being applied by municipalities as part of Growth Plan policy implementation. The data is presented in an easy-to navigate and accessible way so that municipalities seeking to implement their own Complete Streets strategies can refer to existing examples and tailor approaches for their own needs. The catalogue includes the following information:
- A quick reference checklist of the components of featured Complete Streets projects.
- More comprehensive descriptions of the projects for users who are looking for more details.
- Several case studies that reflect the diversity of Complete Streets approaches in the region.
The catalogue was produced during the first phase of a research projected funded by the Places to Grow Implementation Fund. Between 2014-2015, TCAT is working with Dr. Raktim Mitra at Ryerson University and Dr. Paul Hess at the University of Toronto to develop tools aimed at improving the capacity of GGH municipalities to plan and evaluate transportation infrastructure, particularly around active transportation. During the second phase the research team will produce an audit tool prototype to evaluate Complete Streets in the region.
