One of the most heavily walked streets in Canada has become a temporary haven for pedestrians. Two automobile lanes have been removed to make room for pedestrian boulevards and new public spaces on Yonge Street in downtown Toronto between Queen and Gerrard. The pilot project will be monumental in helping both decision-makers and the general public see first hand how Complete Streets can transform Toronto.
The Celebrate Yonge festival began on Friday August 17th and ran through Sunday, September 16. It is hosted by the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area. Be sure to visit Yonge Street to experience a new side of Toronto!
